About D3mon Deck Tools

D3mon Deck Tools was created by Eric Thomas as a dedicated, free competitive utility for the Pokémon Trading Card Game community. Whether you are practicing on Pokémon TCG Live, tuning lists for local League Challenges, or preparing for Regional Championships, our goal is to provide deep mathematical clarity to your deckbuilding.

Simulation Methodology: 100,000 Monte Carlo Iterations

While many basic calculators rely only on static formula calculations, the rules of the Pokémon TCG involve conditional loops (such as mulligans and prize placements) that make purely formulaic analysis insufficient.

The Monte Carlo Engine Workflow

  1. Deck Ingestion: Your 60-card deck is parsed from standard PTCGL export format and indexed into memory.
  2. Cryptographic Shuffling: Using a high-performance Fisher-Yates shuffle with uniform randomness, the virtual deck is thoroughly randomized.
  3. Opening Hand Resolution & Mulligan Loop: 7 cards are dealt. If zero Basic Pokémon are present, a mulligan is recorded, the hand is returned to the deck, reshuffled, and dealt again until a valid basic is drawn.
  4. Prize Card Allocation: 6 random cards are separated face-down into the prize pool.
  5. Evaluation & Combinatorics: The simulator evaluates whether your key combo cards were hit in the opening hand and checks if critical one-of targets were prized.
  6. Iteration: This entire sequence is executed 100,000 times in under 300 milliseconds on the backend to produce high-precision statistical distributions.

The Consistency Grade Algorithm

Our Consistency Lab aggregates multiple mathematical dimensions to assign a competitive grade (S, A, B, C, D, F):

  • Mulligan Reliability (35% Weight): High score if opening mulligan odds remain below 25%, minimizing free card advantage given to the opponent.
  • Early Search & Reach (25% Weight): Density of item outs (Buddy-Buddy Poffin, Ultra Ball, Nest Ball) and setup supporters (Arven, Irida).
  • Turn 1 Support (15% Weight): Probability of having a draw or setup supporter in the initial 7 cards.
  • Combo Hit Rate (15% Weight): Odds of hitting your designated opening combo cards simultaneously.
  • Prize Card Safety (10% Weight): Low risk of essential non-recoverable tech cards being locked in prizes.

Open Data & Card APIs

Card images, translations across 9 languages, set codes, and regulation marks are synchronized via the open-source TCGdex API.
