Dragapult ex / Dusknoir
A dominant spread archetype combining Dragapult ex's Phantom Dive with Dusknoir's Cursed Blast ability to systematically dismantle the opponent's bench and take multi-prize turns.
Strategy & Gameplan
Dragapult ex / Dusknoir is one of the most flexible and punishing decks in the current format. The core strategy revolves around establishing multiple Dreepy on Turn 1 via Buddy-Buddy Poffin, evolving into Drakloak for continuous card draw via 'Reconnaissance', and powering up Dragapult ex. With Phantom Dive dealing 200 active damage plus 6 damage counters spread to the bench, complemented by Dusknoir's Cursed Blast (which can drop 13 damage counters instantly at the cost of giving up a prize), this deck can bypass big Pokémon ex defenses and snipe fragile support engines like Fezandipiti ex, Mew ex, or evolving basics.
Turn 1 Execution
Going first, prioritize playing down at least 2 Dreepy and 1 Duskull. Going second, utilize Arven or Lillie's Determination to find Buddy-Buddy Poffin and Technical Machine: Evolution to accelerate your board into Drakloak and Dusclops immediately.
Key Synergies
Drakloak's Reconnaissance guarantees turn-by-turn resource access without relying solely on Supporter cards. Dusknoir allows you to activate Counter Catcher on demand by manipulating your remaining prize cards.
Strengths
- Tremendous bench sniping that punishes low-HP engines
- Built-in draw engine via Drakloak
- Can take multiple prize cards in a single turn with Cursed Blast
Weaknesses
- Vulnerable to early hand disruption (Iono to 1-2 cards)
- Energy acceleration requires precise attachment sequencing
- Struggles if Basic Pokémon are knocked out before evolving
